The president of Estudiantes de La Plata, Juan Sebastián Verón, expressed his outrage over the debut of streamer Iván Buhajeruk, known as Spreen, at Deportivo Riestra, calling it a lack of respect. Spreen, who has a contract with the energy drink brand sponsoring Riestra, started in the match against Vélez corresponding to the twenty-second date of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol (LPF), but was substituted in less than a minute.
Verón condemned what happened with Spreen in an Instagram story, labeling the situation as a total lack of respect for football and for football players. The presence of the streamer on the field was widely criticized by several players, including Braian Romero, forward of Vélez, who stated that it was a disrespect to football to show that shortcut to young viewers.
Meanwhile, Cristian Fabbiani, head coach of Deportivo Riestra, assured that Spreen's participation was something exceptional, justifying that the streamer already had a contract with the club before his arrival and that, if he had continued training, he might have shown abilities, but he is not a football player.
